• Be the Improvement Warrior or Sit On the Couch?

    Improving yourself is the hardest job you can partake in.

    It takes work. Hard work.

    Especially to get started. But once you get into the mindset of improvement then it starts to get fun and it starts to become worthwhile.

    It’s super easy to sit on your butt and watch TV and eat whatever the hell you want, while your fat cells get bigger and bigger and your triglycerides go up and up. It is easy but it actually takes more energy to do that then if you were to workout. Because your body wasn’t meant to just sit around and watch TV, or play video games, or be inactive.

    The path of improvement starts with YOU. And it starts with you being AWARE!

    You need to be aware of your current situation.

    By situation I’m talking about your current state of LIFE.

    Your life can be changed at any time, but again you have to be aware of your current situation.

    Is this WHAT you’ve always wanted for your life? Are you living your PRIME LIFE? Are you where you thought you would be at this stage in your life? Are you what you wanted to be when you dreamed as a kid?  life is about working out, eating healthy and stress relief

    Most kids dreams are a lot bigger then adults simply because they haven’t lived life. And haven’t been dragged down by people saying don’t do that, don’t do this: you can’t do that, that takes work……….. but you know what…….. this is your LIFE, and regardless if you listened to people who said you shouldn’t do this or that, you are in your current situation because of YOU….. nobody else.

    That’s step 2. Blame yourself for everything.

    Step 1: Be Aware of your current situation

    Step 2: Blame yourself for everything.

    You have made every decision up to now!

    But you can change everything starting now.

    It’s simple do to but it’s not easy. It’s hard. It’s going to take hard work. And you might get some looks, or some talk from people trying to keep you from moving in the direction you want to move. In the direction of IMPROVEMENT.

    To become an Improvement Warrior….. first my definition of an Improvement Warrior:

    Making our future tomorrows the best they can be, by doing and changing the things we are aware about today. 

    You must become aware of your situation and you must take full responsibility as to WHY you are not WHERE you want to be.

    NEXT, you need to decide exactly where you want to be!

    More then likely you are going to need to gain some expertise, or hire a ‘coach’. Hiring a coach doesn’t mean it’s a physical coach; it could be that you , or an online coaching program, or a DVD, or you join a local group, or you join a mastermind, or you frequent a website with the information you are seeking, or you join an online workout program. Physical coaches would be you hire a personal trainer, or join group classes, or yoga, or you hire a life coach, join a networking group, etc……..

    Sometimes it can be free and sometimes you have to pay. Usually the more you pay the better value you are going to get out of it. But free was how I turned my life around when I went to the Upper Arlington library and checked ‘The Secret’ on audio CD. It started a path towards improvement.

    It’s ok not to know something, especially in the information age we live in now. There’s a lot of things people don’t know about, but they still give their opinion on it regardless. Which can lead to people leading others with bad information.

    I look at the nutrition field like that. For over 50 years you’ve been told fat and cholesterol is bad for you; when in reality they are two of the most important substances for your body and health. It will take a while for everybody to come around on this, but there are many other fields that are like that.

    So 4th: You need to have an open mind and not be closed off to anything.

    To recap: 1. Be aware 2. Blame Yourself 3. Decide WHERE you want to be 4. Have an open mind.

    You can’t constantly improve if you think you know everything. Life is constant education. The moment you stop educating yourself is the moment you start your decline.

    Education doesn’t stop once you graduate from high school or college. It is a lifetime. Because you are on a path for personal mastery.

    If you do not master yourself, then you do not master life. You will be a victim, rather then a volunteer; always blaming others (rule #2) for your situation and never taking responsibility that you can build whatever you want to build.

    The final step is MAKE A DECISION.

    Don’t put off making a decision, even if you don’t know how you are going to do it.

    The most successful people will jump off an airplane with no parachute and figure out how to make a parachute on the way down.

    There’s obstacles at every corner. From this point on obstacles will not stop you. You run into one then you need to figure out how to get through it. Quitting is not the path of improvement, it’s the sitting on the couch and getting fatter. The majority of the US (3/4 of the population) is overweight. Don’t be the majority. You have to be a minority. The minority is improvement. People who are not going to settle for life, but rather take life by the balls and attack it.

    So WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

    Don’t know what to do I’ve created a MUST DO list of the things you MUST DO to even start a life of an Improvement Warrior:

      • Eat Clean: Eating junk and food-like product (stuff in packages and bags) won’t fuel your body and give you the energy needed to become an Improvement Warrior. It will keep you on coach and keep you lazy.
      • Workout: Workouts need to be hard so I’m not talking about cardio here. This is going to lead to mental toughness and awareness (rule #1) if your body is where it should be or not in terms of looks, strength, and performance. The body was made to move, but move correctly. You can join any jackass trainer’s class or program, but if movement quality (form) is not of upmost importantance and addressed then you are not going to get the results you seek and will probably get injured and will then lose everything or quit— both of which lead to more sitting on the coach and getting fatter. The most important thing is hiring a coach/program knows what they are doing.

    • Drink Water: Work up to at least 1/2 your bodyweight in ounces. I try and get at least 100 oz a day at 175 pounds. Don’t drink tap water it must be filtered water, filtering out fluoride, chlorine, and lead and all the other crap. Tap and brita filters and other store brands do not filter out everything. You drink that it’s just putting more toxins in your body which leads to feeling like crap, more toxins stored inside your fat cells……which leads to a feeling of wanting to sit on the couch again. I use the Clearly Filtered Water Filter and am working on getting a whole house filter.
    • Get at least 7 hours of sleep and have a sleep prep routine. If your sleep is off so is your body, mind, brain. You cannot recover fully which leads to lack of energy. Sleep needs to be in the deepest REM sleep for recovery to occur. So when it gets dark turn all light bulbs to an amber or fluorescent orange (eliminates blue light), but blue light blocking glasses, sleep in as dark a room as possible, and get to bed at least an hour before midnight.
    • Read: Remember education never stops. Nonfiction, whatever you are most interested in improving upon. The 3 big books I think everybody should read: Physcho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone (save this one for later in Improvement journey because you might be offended by this book)
    • Meditation or prayer, stress relief: You can control two things in your life— breath and thoughts. Most people don’t know how to breathe correctly which is a huge stress creator. Stress can kill and IT WILL hold on to body fat and weight loss is virtually impossible.
      Learn to cook: Cooking is not taking a weight watchers or (UN) healthy Choice meal and putting it in a microwave. Cooking is a skill, much like squatting, burpees, writing, teaching, it needs to be practiced to get good at. And it needs to be reached early in life. You have the power to make delicious, healthy tasting meals. Unleash the power.
    • Regeneration: This relates to recovery. From workouts to stress to life. Regeneration hurts, but Improvement Warriors are not whiners. If you skip this part then your working out will eventually stop because you get injured; which will lead to sitting on the couch and getting fatter. I’m talking about foam rolling, mobility work, lacrosse ball rolling—– foam rolling should never get easy or pain free……. you always will have trigger points and they need to be gotten rid of. 
    • Eliminate negativity from your life: All news, newspapers, gossip, reality TV, people need to be eliminated from your life. If you hate your job that is negativity and you spend 1/3 of your weekday (and some weekends) at that place that causes a huge stress— it needs to be eliminated. No joke. I don’t have a job, I have a passion! Find yours. I recently rejoined Isagenix, if you want to start your own business helping others please contact me.     • Get organized/Declutter: If your surroundings are cluttered so is your life and mind. Your office, car, workout area, etc….. the places you spend the most time in are the most important. The Ultra successful are Ultra organized. That is where I’m heading, if you are too then get organized. Get a planner and plan out your day. Decide what you want (step #5) and write it down (Goals) and go get it— jump in without the parachute!
