Excuses are something that everybody makes. I've written about them before on another blog, and I will probably write about them again.
But when something is as important as working out and People keep making excuses even when their condition keeps getting worse it really makes me mad. Because you only have one life and you only have one body but yet some people waste both. They waste their body and they waste their life.
A lot of people don't know what to do. Or they know the journey ahead it Is going to be extremely difficult and they make excuses as to why it can't be done. Probably because they have tried before and failed.
And when you keep failing and you don't know where it is truly want to go it makes it so easy to quit and come up with excuses so you don't have to go through the pain again.
The thing is there isn't one situation that is unique to human being these days— not one. There has been some person in your exact situation who has risen up and taken control of their life.
Knowing why you want something, makes it a lot easier to get knocked down and keep coming back for more.
My opinion every single person should be working out. Because you should be thinking about the older you. The senior you. The you 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years older then you are now.
Most people would not walk up to their grandma or their grandpa or walk up to some senior citizen 80 or 90 years old and Punch them in the face, only the truly wretched and disgusting human beings would do that, right?
But that is basically what you are doing to yourself when you don't workout— can you make excuses about why you can't workout, why you can't start. Everybody has the same 24 hours in a day why do some people find the time and some peoples just put it off? It's Because of priorities
We all have them.
Family, school, work tend to be the biggest. But working out should be one of the top as well. Because it enhances everything. It makes everything better.
If you aren't working out, right at around the age of 40 (I've heard as young as 30, all the way up to 50), you start sarcopenia. This is the loss of muscle mass– of lean muscle tissue.
Muscle has a lot to do with how well you live your life and perform your functions.
The #1 cause of death via accidents from 16-65 is car. After the age of 65 it is falls.
Sarcopenia starts around 40, by 65 you've lost about about 25 pounds of muscle (giving an average of 1 pound per year).
What does do for you— obviously strength— endurance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, balance…. oh balance. And let's not forget bone health or loss of it. Strength training helps keeps bones strong. Weak bones and loss of strength, coordination, balance, mobility lead to falls…. brittle bones break easier.
The number one entry into retirement homes is from falls. Broken hips, pelvis, legs, backs, knees, etc…. doesn't matter. The average lifespan after a fall after entering a retirement home is 1-2 years.
Why? Can't move, bed ridden, can't exercise….. heart starts weaken, brain starts to deteriorate, hormones drop….. and you get depressed— have you ever visited a retirement home, I did when my grandma was starting her decline, it was one of the most depressing things I've ever experienced– watching some of those people just do their ‘everyday' thing. I never, ever want to experience that….. I'm going out on my own terms!
And with that I come to an email I got from a man. The name has been changed to protect the identity but he is well over 300 pounds in his 40's or 50's and in definite need of some training. He had signed up for both our fitness program and our yoga. Both he no showed for. I sent him an email trying to figure out why:

Now he had come in beforehand to fill out a waiver form. Unfortunately at the time, the office next door to us pipes had burst. This was in January, something that is very common. Our place was soaked. So we had about 20 green fans and dehumidifiers in our studio. It sucked but it was obviously needed.
The only class we cancelled was Yoga later that day. But every other class went on without a hitch. We had move our clients to certain areas and couldn't use other areas as they were too wet, but not one client complained or missed class.
Things happen. I hope ‘Warren' reads this because I emailed him back explaining the situation and told him that everything was back to normal with our studio– no response.
I don't know Warren's life. Maybe he's never had anything bad happen to him ever. Like a flat tire, car breaking down, some electronic breaking….I don't know.
What I do know is Warren and hundreds of thousands to millions of others just like him are going to die, sooner then later. And the quality of life leading up to that death is not going to fun. I don't mean to be a debbie downer but these are the facts. People are dying everyday, that could be prevented by some simple lifestyle choices.
