What the cleanse is all about?
First off, when most people hear the word ‘cleanse', they think ‘diet' or short-term fix, and this is going to suck. I'm going to be miserable and hungry all the time. But the Just Cleanse- Nutritional Cleansing Challenge is different. Trust me, I went through it, and got some awesome results. Plus I do 3 16-week challenges throughout the year.
THIS IS NOT A DIET!
IT IS NOT SIMPLY A WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT!
It is a way to transform your body and life. It unleashes whole body health. It is about creating a new and healthy lifestyle.
Please note that when you officially enter the Just Cleanse Nutritional Cleansing challenge you will receive a cleanse challenge guidebook from Jason Yun with tips, meal plans, what to eat, what not to eat, and more, plus the official cleansing guidebook as well.
Step one: Cleansing the Body of Toxins to Release Body Fat
Toxins are everywhere around us. They are in our food. The water. The air. Inside our homes, cars, offices, schools, etc……
A 2011 American Heart Association report showed that the level of environmental toxins are worse now then ever before in our history. The EPA reports that the average American body has between 40-80 commercial toxins inside us that can affect our health. Not good 🙁
Step Two: Nutrition to balance the appetite, increase lean muscle tissue and reduce food cravings.

Step Three: Specialized Cleansing supplements to relieve stress.
Stress can be the silent killer, and the silent toxin builder. Chronic stress can lead to a host of problems that leads to even more problems, among them is weight gain.
So if you eat garbage— well you've heard the saying ‘you are what you eat', right? Well then that protein cannot express it's full power. In other words the body's shape, ability to move and your mind will all be affected by the proteins that you eat.
Remember the Just Cleanse Challenge is NOT A DIET. It's main purpose is to release toxins that have accrued in our body via daily, everyday living. Once those toxins are released, everything in the body starts working optimally— which results in weight loss, fat loss, inches lost, energy increase, mental clarity, and overall health.

What I learned while on the 30-day cleanse.
As a fitness professional I get approached by many different supplement and fitness equipment companies all the time, attempting to get me to join their ‘program' and promote it to my clients.Â
I sample & do every single thing that I recommend to my clients and friends and family first. I want to make sure it works and it is healthy and ethical. Most of the supplement companies I am introduced to, all it takes is a little research and I can tell if the company is something that is worthwhile. The majority of them the ingredients puts me off right away. With this company that simply wasn't the case.
What brought me on board initially with the cleansing challenge is the fact that the Cleanse programs are top notched. Like I mentioned before I had been looking for a cleanse program for a while to do and introduce to my clients. So I saw it and signed up the first day. Got all my stuff and got myself ready for a the cleanse challenge.
Lesson 1- My body adjusted to the lower calories quicker then expected.
I usually consume around 2700-3700 calories a day. On this cleanse I was only getting around 2000-2300. The first week was definitely the most difficult. I was hungry most of the time, but felt fine other then that. My concentration and ability to get work done actually went up. The nutrition I was getting was better then what I had been getting prior and that was why I didn't need as many calories. If we feed our cells the nutrition they need to strive we don't need as many calories.
Lesson 2- Water is key to elimination of toxins.
Normally I recommend 1/2 your body weight in ounces in regular water each day. No flavored waters. During this cleanse I routinely was drinking 120-140 ounces a day. And it must be filtered water. Tap water and some bottled waters (which are just glorified tap water anyway) have a bunch of toxins in them anyway so you are just wasting your time doing a cleanse. I recommend getting a filtered water pitcher from Clearly Filtered. Get the one that filters fluoride; chlorine and some other things will be filtered as well. You will be amazed at the taste too 🙂 If you go another route- fluoride and chlorine are going to be your biggest most important to get rid of!
Lesson 3- Weight Loss-
Like I mentioned before my goal was not weight loss during this cleanse. It was to detoxify my body to be able to perform better and get stronger afterwards. However I did lose 16.2 pounds. It did not feel like it. In the end I thought I would have lost 5-8 pounds.
To say the least I was shocked and a little disappointed at the massive weight loss. However, Â I soon realized that during a cleanse my body is going to get rid of the things not needed, so it obviously is apparent that the weight needed to come off too to get the toxins and detoxify my body. Now comes the task of rebuilding myself toxin free 🙂
My strength and performance during my training sessions did not go down or suffer at all and actually increased.
During my 3rd cleanse challenge, I maintained my weight of 175-178 as I purely focused on getting rid of the toxins. I upped my calories to 2500-3000 per day. I felt great, looked great and performed like an Improvement Warrior in my business and workouts!
Lesson 4- Workouts during the cleanse.
During the cleanse I typically did more bodybuilding style type workouts. I probably did 5 conditioning/metabolic type training workouts. The reason I went this way was to conserve energy and not burn as much calories since my calories were restricted.
Like I mentioned my strength and performance during my workouts didn't go down at all. And I actually had more energy during most of the workouts.
I only missed 3 days of training on the Shake days, and I never trained on Cleanse days, although I did teach a Yoga class on one of those days.
Lesson 5- Cleanse days-
Cleanse days got easier the more I did it. The first one was kind of a kick in the gut, because for someone who usually consumes 500-800 calories for breakfast consuming about 250 calories all day is quite different. Once you go through one and you know what to expect it gets a little easier. The first time for anything is not easy. Especially when you have a friend who texts you a picture of everything he ate that day 🙂
I did find it quite difficult to go to sleep on these days. Took me an extra hour or so to fall asleep the first cleanse day, but every cleanse day got a little better and eventually returned to normal.
Nowadays I typically do around 40+ cleanse days a year. Â That should keep those toxins at bay, and keep my body in tip top working condition. I've been doing this since August 2013.
Lesson 6- Overall-
Overall my experience was a good one. It was easier then I expected to get through the 30-days. The day before I had a massive cheat day. So I suggest getting that out of your system before starting your cleanse. In the future like I said I will be doing a Cleanse day almost once a week ( I do 40-46 days a year)Â from here on out to keep my body in tip top shape and keep those toxins at bay.
I will probably do the 9-day cleanse at least twice a year to get the full effects of the cleansing power of the supplements.
It has been about 2 weeks since I finished the cleanse and I feel better and look even better now. I've put on about 4 pounds since then. Haven't tested body fat since, but goal is to get in the single digits again.
After your cleanse slowly start to introduce foods back in. And by foods I mean foods that have been proven to cause issues. There is a section in the cleanse manual going over this in detail.
So things like:
- Dairy
- Peanuts
- Grains
- Oats
- Wheat
- Legumes
- Beans
- Chocolate
The reason is, now your body is toxin free. The way it should be. Certain things you eat now will have a much better chance of telling you- YOU CAN”T EAT THAT ANYMORE, It hurts your body.
