Super excited for the results that were produced for our 3rd Annual Improvement Warrior Fitness Cleanse Challenge.
Unfortunately we can only select one winner.
Down below is Karen’s essay’s for entering and exiting the challenge. We always want people to put down on paper what they expect with the cleanse challenge as it makes them more aware of certain things in their life that they want to change. The more someone is aware of the changes needed then the more likely that person is to take action and make them become a reality.Â
I love food!  I love food, both âgood” food AND âbadâ food. But now I am tired of the way Iâve been feeling after I eat it.  I am tired of the bloating and gas and my clothes not fitting.  Its time for a change. I have reached the highest weight that I have ever seen on the scale,  and recently I think that I have been the most sedentary that I have been since I was in graduate school. Â
I am exited for this challenge because I really want to feel better and get the benefit from some weight loss too!  Those changes will only benefit me for both my current and my future health and fitness. I know that this challenge will not be easy, the drastic change in my eating habits wonât be easy.  But knowing that I will not be alone in this challenge will be comforting and the support on Facebook and with my âchallengersâ will be helpful, fun and hopefully a learning experience.Â
From this challenge I have several expectations:  I expect to feel better physically â less gas, less bloating, less fatigue.  I expect to sleep better â from less bloating, less gas, less caffeine, and therefor feel better physically and emotionally. I expect to exercise more and build muscle because along with a diet change this will help change my bodyâ and as a result I expect to lose some weight and inches but gain more muscle and feel better in my clothes, and have more stamina in my daily life and activities as a mom, wife, veterinarian. I also hope that by the time this 30 day challenge ends that I will be well on my way to forming some new habits and lasting changes that will carry me forward to a healthier life for myself and to be a healthy example for my children!
Yay, Yay, Yay!!! I feel so much better! Ive been sleeping better. My pants fit better!! All around things are better! Itâs a good feeling! I am down 11lbs and on my way!!
As with anything new that you start there is a learning curve, sometimes big, sometimes not so big. With this 30 Day Challenge system there was a small learning curve. It didnât take long to get into the routine and not need to rely on my notes! I found that I really looked forward to my dinner every night! Protein and veggies tasted so good. I also enjoyed not having to think about what to pack for lunch! A shake it is!! I really enjoyed that shake blended with ice and I did try a recommendation that I found on the facebook page for the chocolate shake powder just blended with ice and a tiny bit of liquid â eat with a spoonâ¦.it really felt like a soft-serve treat! I had moments of feeling deprived but they didnât last long, I really wasnât hungry â It was old habits trying to die! I tried really hard to stop and listen to what my body was telling me â¦.was it my stomach that was truly hungry or my mouth just wanting to eat something! When it was my stomach that was hungry it was usually meal time! When it was my mouth, I tried to find something else to do to get away from the kitchen! I started running again and am on my way to a 5K – the turkey trot on Thanksgiving morning!! Itâll be a great start to the holiday that usually revolves around food!
The work is not over, the new lifestyle is not habit yet but I am on my way! This challenge was the jump start I needed! I feel successful and my body feels better!
When Cleanse Days are performed regularly (once week, or one day every other week, or even once a month), the body undergoes a variety of positive changes.
There are various enzymes that are activated, mitochondria (the energy powerhouse of the cell) are shown to increase in number and become more efficient, oxidative stress is reduced (a hallmark of longevity), and fat is mobilized and used for fuel in the muscle and liver.also revs up detoxification and antioxidant enzymes for cellular health.
The positive biological changes created on Cleanse Days are enhanced when followed by Shake Days â rich in quality protein, good fats, low-glycemic carbohydrates (especially green and fibrous vegetables), vitamins and minerals. This leads to decreases in body fat (especially visceral fat (the fat stuck around the organs and belly), reduced levels of oxidative stress and inflammation, increased insulin sensitivity, and better maintenance of muscle. There are biochemical changes that lead to reduced number of disease and better health long-term.
Inflammation opens everybody up to every single disease and sickness known to man. And then your habits, environment, genetics basically determine what happens to you. Person A could become obese, Person B get diabetes, Person C Arthritis, Person D Dementia, and so on.  Inflammation is important for everybody, without it YOU would be dead. But the inflammation we want is acute; we want it to come and go quickly. People who are obese, have diabetes, have arthritis, have dementia, etcâ¦. are bathing in a pool of chronic inflammation.
Cleansing and especially routine cleanse days help to deliver a severe beat down to chronic inflammation.
