• From Cheat To Treat….. No More Cheat Meals

    I hope you are doing awesome and gearing up for a fantastic day! 
     I wanted to tell you about was cheat meals are gone! 

    That's right! No more cheat meals!
    So I've been telling clients to have cheat meals and myself to have a chest meal every once in a while. Plan it out in advance, one a week, so that it's a lot easier to your nutrition plan until that meal, because you know what's coming.

    I've had some epic cheat meals in the past.
    Including an entire day on 1/1/13, as seen below:

    Needless to say, I didn't repeat this 1/1/14. I learn from my mistakes 😉
    But back in August of last year I was called out by one of my clients about using the term ‘cheat meal'.
    And she was right.
    Cheating is associated in a negative way. I like to lead in a positive way.
    That was one of the reasons we switched our fitness name to Improvement Warrior Fitness.
    Why I switched my tag line from ‘get strong, be strong, stay strong' to Stay strong, stay positive, be the Improvement Warrior.' And my online coaching program, Mindtamer, is all about getting the ball rolling into a more positive state.
    Which is why I'm eliminating the term ‘Cheat Meal'. From my vocabulary and hopefully yours.
    Here's part of the email from my client that explains better then I can write:
    ‘I’ve decided Improvement warriors don’t “cheat”.  It is a negative word that implies malfeasance and dishonesty.  It makes me feel like my good dietary choices are somehow ‘fraudulent’ because I “cheat” on them.

    NO More!


    ‘….they are “treat” meals from now on. A reward for a week’s good behavior and perfect FLO (workout) attendance.  With regard to food, the use of the word ‘cheat’ is now banned in my house. I banned ‘diet’ also. It is a word fraught with negativity, it evokes ideas like: suffering, hunger and struggle.  It also implies a temporary change to habit when what we want is permanent change! Even a successful diet is thought of as a fleeting success as the weight lost later returns for most people.'

    So there you have it! When we focus on negative things, negative things tend to show up more. Cheating is negative.
    No more cheating. Have a treat meal, and enjoy it! Because you've earned it!
