Vitamin D 25(OH) (Calcidiol) is the inactive component of Vitamin D which is then converted in the kidneys to the active form 1_25-dihydroxy Vitamin D (Calcitriol). The full conversion from Cholesterol all the way into 1_25dihydroxy Vitamin D is done in the Skin, Liver and then Kidneys. The conversion of VD25(OH) to VD1_25 requires a photoisomerization step which requires water. Therefore, if dehydrated, this conversion will be poor and VD1_25 will be low.
Sulfated Vitamin D is created best by AM sunlight when the colour temperature of sunlight is below 6500K, in the AM. Despite UVB and IR still being present over 6500K, Vitamin D is sulfated best in the morning. In fact, any type of sulfation operates better in the morning. This is because in the morning there is a higher percentage of Red and not so much Blue light in Sunlight at that time.
