Are we almost through February already? How is 2015 going for you?
Are you making any strides toward your fitness or weight goals? I’m still here, and I’m still trying. I made most of the Phase #1 FLOs, and I feel a little stronger all the time. As you might remember, I had to take December off due to surgery, so I had to build myself back up a little, and with Coach Gabe’s help, I think I succeeded.
An old nemesis of mine came back to haunt me during January, though. Shin splints. If you’ve ever experienced them, you know how painful they can be. I had them for a while in high school when I attempted to run track. I was determined not to get sidelined, though. I got a new pair of shoes, saw my chiropractor for help, and started using KT tape for support. Certain moves (like jumping jacks) tend to cause me pain, so I just use an alternative right now if I need to. Don’t let your limitations keep you from working out- IWF coaches are great about helping you adjust around your specific needs!
My progress is slow, but I’m not giving up. I lost a few pounds in January, and I constantly remind myself that if I lose “just a few months” each month this year, I’ll easily hit my weight-loss goal as I continue to become stronger and more fit. We’re just starting a new phase at IWF- and there’s never been a better time for you to join us!
