In a new series I'm going to be breaking down an article that I did not agree with everything. It was an article written by a former supplement company I used to promote. If you know me Isagenix is a company that I use and so does my entire family. We started in 2013 with it. So this article I had issues with is pretty old.  But somethings I just don't agree with– I used to wholeheartedly before. But with time and learning what I've learned things have changed for the better.Â

- Eat 4-6 small meals day a day instead of the usual 2-3 large meals. Eating frequently will help regulate and boost your metabolism to burn more calories.
Now I was all about this before. This was how I got huge! Up to 234 pounds back in my college days when all I wanted was to be huge, just like Arnold in his heyday in bodybuilding.

But with no regard for my health.Â
Of course I thought I was healthy, because I was following everything that I was told by the USDA– high carb, low fat, low cholesterol, etc…..
I had the idea that if I didn't eat at least 6 times a day that my muscles would shrivel up and start eating themselves making me smaller. Not true. But I had that belief.
When you are on a high carb diet you have to eat about every 2-4 hours otherwise you will be starving or your blood sugar levels will drop so much causing you to act like a monster— oscar the grouch or something similar. Not a good look on anybody. No energy, shaking all over.
Eating every 2-3 hours on a high carb or even a moderate carb level puts you in the category of a sugar burner. All carbs eaten turn into glucose in the body to be used as energy or stored as glycogen for future use— or they get turned into fat.
I consider a moderate carb level over 100 grams and high carbs over 150. Â A lot of people get his before breakfast with their special toast, bagels, orange juice, oatmeal type breakfast.
It doesn't regulate your metabolism, it keeps your blood sugar high all day long which is bad. It's the reason you crave carbs because it's your rocket fuel for your energy. High blood sugar all day is going to make your pancreas work super hard to release a bunch of insulin to shuttle those carbs into immediate energy or store them as glycogen or fat. The pancreas can only take so much, eventually more will be called upon to do the same job as before, and if you keep doing that you can say hello to insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance is super bad. It causes all 5 of the markers for metabolic syndrome to go up. And it's a pathway to unhealthiness. Most fat deposited on your belly (worst visible fat you can have). Obesity and diabetes and all kinds of other bad things to follow if you continue to eat carbs and stoke your metabolism throughout the day.
So what can you do?
Lower your carbs
It is that simple.
High carb diet is a high inflammation diet, which opens you up to everything– every chronic disease and acute disease. So from the cold to flu to sore throats to obesity to diabetes to dementia to Alzheimer's to seizures to strokes to heart disease.
It is my mission to spread the word of the dangers of high carb diets and low fat diets. They don't work. I followed the USDA propaganda for over a decade and it got me no where in terms of health, just being big and bulky and fat. It pissed me off and it should you too. The ‘health' guru's have been lying to us for years and it's time to take a stand and take back our health!
Shoot for under 100 carbs a day coming only from real foods. Vegetables make up the bulk of that. I've started a new way of eating that has me eating under 30-40 carbs a day and I've never felt better. More to come on that.
I've been following the Paleo diet since 2011 with some major changes inside of the actual diet. There isn't a one size fits all diet plan, but I believe for optimal health and looking your best lowering carbs and getting rid of crap foods like whole grains is the start. Me on the left @ 190 following a paleo diet of around 150-200 carbs a day. Right, Paleo and cleansing with Isagenix with just around 50-80 grams of carbs. Big difference right!
